This stud is owned by Kurt Hilnhütter and his daughter Sabine Bachmann and their families. The stud has been breeding Connemara ponies since 1974 and has bred generations of ponies that are useful and true to type. The ponies at Glaskopf Stud are used for breeding, driving and riding. The first stallion at the Glaskopf Stud was the Irish bred Golden Dan. Dan came from the Mac Dara line and he was a favourite among all the family members. Dan died some years ago but his stallion son Glaskopf Golden Merlin is kept at the stud and used for breeding. Golden Dan was used for breeding and for driving, Kurt Hilnhütter used him in his four-in-hand together with three mares.

He is by the renowned Irish bred stallion Hazy Dawn and among his relatives you find the two full brothers Frederiksminde Mandy Boy and Frederiksminde Hazy Match (both licensed stallions). The latter was also exported to Germany when Susanne Lehmann bought him. Hazy Match has spent the last years at stud in Ireland with Jimmy Canavan at Fernville Stud in Moycullen, Connemara. He has covered a lot of mares and his progeny has had success in the show-ring. Frederiksminde Hazy Marvel has progeny in Denmark and Finland (he was leased to Finland for breeding two seasons) and in Germany. One of Hazy Marvel's most well-known daughters in Denmark is Enghøjs Lovely Lauren, she was foal Champion in 1994 and was elected Supreme Champion in 1996. Hazy Marvel also has licensed sons in both Finland and Denmark.

Glaskopf Grey Joanna, photo: Susanne Leijonhufvud 2006 Glaskopf Grey Joanna comes from a very good maternal line. Her dam is a daughter of Glaskopf Golden Merlin (by Golden Dan) and the Irish bred mare Ganty Jane II by Carna Bobby. Joanna's grand dam Ganty Jane II is mostly known for being the dam of White Granite, a mare bred in Ireland and exported to France. White Granite is doubtless the most renowned Connemara pony mare in France and she is the dam of nine licensed stallion sons. Among them is the famous show-jumper Dexter Leam Pondi that has participated in the European Championships in show-jumping at several occasions.
